The KR8 (Crate) is WorkCycles’ modern rethinking of the classic Dutch Bakfiets.

The Bakfiets or “Box Bike” is the minivan of the Netherlands. They are versatile machines for carrying precious cargo: a couple of toddlers, a case of wine, or your best friend (human or canine).

The front box allows you to keep an eye on up to 250 lbs of cargo. You can hear your kids and they can have space for snacks and toys, plus a couple of bags of groceries. It’s geared low enough to handle most of Boston’s terrain even with a heavy load. Despite the long length, handling is surprisingly stable, cornering and tracking in a similar way to normal two-wheeled bikes.

WorkCycles bikes are hand built in the Netherlands to be incredibly robust and durable, able to thrive under daily hard use.

• Thanks to the ingeniously angled and offset seat-tube the bike adjusts to fit riders from about 5’2″ to 6’8.” 

• The all-weather marine plywood box comes standard with a kids’ bench seat, complete with two shoulder harnesses. Colorful and sturdy all-weather canopy or box cover options available

• The ultra sturdy double kickstand keeps the box stable enough at rest that kids can climb in and out on their own without worry that the bike will tip, and flips out of the way once you’re in motion.

• Like any WorkCycles bike it comes standard with a host of features like full chaincase, generator lighting system, heavy duty rear rack, integrated wheel lock, and all weather sprung saddle.
